Definition of True Crime

True crime is defined as a non-fiction literary genre in which the author uses an actual crime and real people as a point of departure. The crime almost always include murder.

My definition of true crime includes that above, however does not always have to include murder. In today's society, there are multiple levels of true crime, those that are the worst most unspeakable involving children, and those that go unsolved for years and years, sometimes never. Too many times today, we turn on the news and hear of the children and people that are missing, real life episodes of "Without a Trace". However unlike the TV show, most of these never come home alive. There have been only a handful of wonderful homecoming stories in the past few years. Most notably that of Elizabeth Smart. Lucky for her, she was not in the hands of murderers. Not to take away from her trauma. She will be forever haunted by the months she spent and loss of time from her family and her youth. But nonetheless, returned to the loving arms of her family. Thank God.

May God watch over those that are being sought right now.

Til nex time.
